As a stay at home mom, if you don’t have a hobby, you could go a little crazy. My personal hobbies include blogging, journaling, and knitting scarves. Knitting is very therapeutic to me, and I have been knitting ever since middle school. My sister taught me how to knit when she was in a knitting club at school, and I loved it from the start. I used to sell scarves in high school. It was great because I loved making the scarves, AND I could make extra cash!

When I stopped working in March of this year (at 35 weeks pregnant), I started knitting again. Since I am a stay at home mom, I’ve tried to make as many scarves as I possibly can because I want to sell them at little vendor events. Selling them at an event is a great way for me to socialize and make a little money.
This past Friday, my sister and I set up a crafts table at the school we attended all the way from kindergarten until graduation. They were having their annual Fall Festival. There were quite a few vendors set up there! I sold my scarves, and my sister sold some paintings that she had done. My mom and my best friend Sarah even came to hang out with us while we were there, and they helped me with JJ too.
I usually sell my scarves for $15, but since I wasn’t charging an extra delivery fee I sold my scarves for $12 a piece. I started with 12 scarves, and I sold 5. I went with the mentality that even if I only sell one, I’ll be happy. It’s all about having a positive perspective. Even though I didn’t make a ton of money, I was still happy to spend time with my mom, sister, JJ, and Sarah, and I also saw some of my former teachers! Everyone was really excited to see JJ because I always post about him on Facebook. I’m so proud of my boy that I really do love to show him off! I think he likes all of the attention too.
I was kind of stressed the week before the Fall Festival because I had 3 more unfinished scarves that I wanted to get done, but JJ has really been clingy and fussy so I did not have time. I was a little frustrated, but I think everything went really well. Sometimes as a mom, you just have to do the best you can and go with the flow. Everything usually works out just fine! It ended up being a great day!
