This blog will be pretty personal and may be opinionated, but hopefully I’ll be able to word everything in a way that will not offend anyone from any religion. Everyone believes how they believe, and I respect that.

My boyfriend and I have lived together since February. Ever since we moved in, we’ve talked about trying to find a church together. Things are a little complicated though. Our families are from different religions. He grew up Catholic, and I grew up Baptist. Also there’s the fact that we are living together and we have a child before being married.
With that being said, even though we were raised differently, we have the same core values. We believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can trust in him and be saved and go to Heaven. We believe everything in the Bible to be true and inspired by God. So Javier and I are not unequal. We know that we should also get married to make things biblically right, but we are taking our time for personal reasons.
Lately we have been trying a new church. We are trying nondenominational churches to not be biased on a certain religious group. Before we go to church, we agree that if either of us feel uncomfortable or out of place at a church, we can leave at any time. We have a baby so no one would really think anything of it. My boyfriend is very soft spoken so I have to make sure that even if I like a place and he doesn’t, he can be honest with me about it. I’m the one who will be pretty straight up about if I like something or not.
This morning we went to a local church for a second time, and we liked it. Well I went last week with a friend, and this week Javier went with me. We dressed up JJ! He looked so cute in a dress shirt and jeans! The preacher spoke on being a child of God. It was really good. I hope to go back next week too. I just have to make sure it is what we both want to do.

So as we continue to find a home church, I’ll just trust in God to guide us to where we need to be. I really want our children to grow up learning about God in church. Whether it’s where we went today or a different church, God has us a home church that will be perfect for our family. As long as we respect each other, and trust God, he’ll show us where to go.
