Have you ever heard the phrase, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?” This is a very true statement! My husband loves when I cook for him! I usually have about 20 different meals on a rotation throughout our normal weeks, and occasionally I try new things to expand our little menu.
Lately, Mondays have been really hard for my husband. At his job, they have weekends off, and then Monday is their catch up day so it’s really hectic and busy. Summer is even harder due to the fact that it’s really hot, and their fans inside aren’t very strong. He also HATES the heat too. Friday, a few people that works with him quit so he was really dreading going in today.
Because I knew Javier might have a rough day, I decided to make his favorite food, Tinga! His mom has taught me how to make it so sometimes I make it for Javier. The only bad thing about making tinga is that it takes a while to prepare and cook, but it’s worth it to see how happy it makes him!
So today I went to the store, and I bought everything to make tinga and fruit salad (he’s been asking me to make fruit salad for a few days now). I felt so excited while I was shopping for everything. Since it is a Spanish recipe, I like to go to the Tienda Mexicana to get some of the ingredients. So I went there, and then I went to Food Lion for the rest of the ingredients. Then I went home to get started!
A couple of hours later, Javier got home from work, and before he even said anything, he walked into the kitchen smiling. That made me so happy! I could tell he was surprised at everything that I had made. I only had a couple more things to do, and then I made him a plate of tinga just the way he likes it. While eating, he kept telling me how he was so happy with the food. My heart was so full.

I’m not writing all of this to sound like the perfect wife or anything like that. I’m just writing this because of how happy I felt being able to treat my man. I love cooking for my him. I love that even though I’m not working at the moment, I still have something to give him. I feel happy being able to take care of him in that way because he takes care of us in every other way. I appreciate how hard he works so I just love being able to say “I love you” with food!
