Sometimes being a new mom is scary and stressful. There’s a lot of moments of uncertainty and fear. I know from experience that motherhood is unlike anything else, and no matter how much you prepare for it, you’ll be thrown for a loop. Here are some ways to stay calm and sane as a new mom.
Listen to “Episode 7: My Labor and Delivery Story” on Spreaker.
1. Know that newborns all have weird issues no one really talks about. Your baby has a weird breathing pattern at first? Normal! Cradle cap? Normal! Weird crusty eye? Normal! I googled some many things the first month or so! Now of course if you are ever really concerned about something, see your pediatrician..
2. Go with the flow. Things happen. 9 times out of 10, things won’t go as planned. Just know that is completely okay!
3. Keep a planner/make to do lists! Pregnancy brain is rough, but mommy brain is worse believe it or not! I keep up with all of my appointments in a planner! I also write to do lists and grocery lists!

4. Remember that they don’t stay little for long. From the time I brought my little one home til now, time have flown! Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and he’s already almost 3 and a half months old!
5. Know that everything is a phase. Your baby won’t sleep at night? It’s a phase mama. You’re baby wants to cluster feed every hour? It’s a phase. There are a lot of things that change throughout a person’s life and it starts at birth!
6. They cry because that’s their only communication! Sometimes when you’re sleep deprived and your baby won’t stop crying, it’s easy to be frustrated! Just relax mama. That’s your baby’s way of communication for now. Be patient and loving even though you may want to rip your hair out!
7. Enjoy the moment! You’re enjoying cuddling your newborn on the couch? Chores can wait a little while. Take pictures! Soak it in. Enjoy every moment.
You’ve got this mama! It’s a learning process, but being a mom is so amazing and rewarding. It’s my absolute favorite thing in the world!
