Have you ever stayed in the shower an extra long time or just said you needed to go to the bathroom to get one minute to yourself? I mean our men can handle the kids for a little while, right? I know that sounds kinda selfish, but speaking from experience, I’m pretty sure all moms have done it. Some days are longer than others and we just need a moment to gather our sanity.
I’m a stay at home mom with my 3 month old son. He’s such a good baby, but he’s been teething for the past couple of weeks, and I feel like he constantly wants to nurse or be held. It just wears me out some days. The second I put him in his little chair or boppy pillow, he wakes up fussy. If I get lucky and he does nap, my time is spent catching up on housework.
Don’t get me wrong, I really love cuddling my little pumpkin, but every mom needs a few minutes with free arms. Being a mommy isn’t a 9 to 5 job. It’s a 24/7 job, and it’s hard work at times. I know I could get a babysitter and go out, but I don’t like other people watching him. No one knows a baby like their own mama.
My boyfriend knows how crazy it’s been lately, so after work, he bought us Cookout and brought it home so I didn’t have to cook. After we ate, I breastfed little man. Then my boyfriend told me to go enjoy a shower. I turned on some music, and I actually had the first 30 minute shower I’ve had in a long time! It was just what I needed! I feel so refreshed.
I wrote this blog for the tired mamas who need a little break. Don’t feel guilty about wanting a minute of alone time. You need it. You’ll be a better mommy because of it. It’ll give you time to chill and refresh. Mommy needs a minute!
