Thankful For My Mommy Friends

Lately I have been struggling with a few things, and I really wouldn’t have made it through without the help of some sweet mamas. Before I start this blog I want to also say that I’m also super thankful for the friends that may not be moms yet, but they are always there to listen and be there when I need it also.

There’s something really special to me about moms reaching out to other new moms. Being a new mom is scary. Most of us as new mothers are walking blind into completely new territory! I have a few friends that had their babies before me and they have helped me so much throughout everything.

One of my best friends of 16 years had a baby exactly 364 days before me! We joked around the whole time I was pregnant that our kids would have the same birthday. Her son’s was April 20, 2018, and my son’s was April 19, 2019. Just one day off! I remember when I was so scared to take a pregnancy test. My boyfriend and I went to my friend’s dad’s house and her and her boyfriend were there for us when we found out that I was pregnant. I was freaking out, but she kept dancing around with her son saying to him, “You’re gonna have a new best friend!” She’s been there for me through everything and she even threw me a baby shower!

I also have a friend that her daughter is exactly 3 months older than my son, and we meet us at each other’s houses just to talk and have adult conversations. It’s crazy how much you can miss your social life at times. Haha. It’s also nice to talk to someone who knows exactly what you are going through too.

Also a Facebook friend that I message back and forth with that had a baby the same month as me asked me to be her prayer partner! It has felt so special to be able to pray with and for someone else who is literally the same age almost and going through literally the same things as me since our babies are actually 10 days apart! I plan on reaching out to other moms the same way because it has been such a positive thing for me!

There’s one other mama that I want to mention that really made my week. I have had a terrible rash for a week now due to allergies and so I went to urgent care yesterday and had to get a steroid shot and prednisone. Then I was told that I couldn’t breastfeed the first few days that I was on the medicine. I only had like one days worth of milk pumped and saved back because I’d already been having to pump and dump due to taking so much allergy medicine. I didn’t know what to do because I really want to keep him on breastmilk. I wanted to cry because I’ve worked so hard to get where I am and I didn’t want to give up yet. I see no problem with formula, but he’s just so used to breastmilk that I didn’t want to switch it up now.

Then I remembered that when I had mastitis, one of my mama friends on Facebook messaged me and asked me if I needed extra milk. She freezes hers and even donates to the hospital. I had enough then but I decided to go out on a limb and ask if she still had some. She has a job and a family and she still took the time to drive to my house and give me 15 5 oz bags of milk. She didn’t even ask anything in return. JJ had no problems with drinking it either. She probably even eats better food than I do too.. Haha. She really saved me a lot of heartbreak. I’m so thankful.

I know this was a lot to read, but I’m so thankful for my mama friends. I’m so thankful that these women go out of the way in their busy lives to be a part of mine.
