A Day in the Life of a Stay at Home Mom: Newborn Edition

This morning I was looking in the mirror and I didn’t really love what I saw. I saw a tired mama with bags under her eyes and a messy ponytail. I walked back into my room to make a to do list of chores really quick before little man woke up so I would remember what I needed to get done. Mommy brain is a real thing. I can hardly even remember where I put my phone half the time.

Once little man was awake, it was go time. I made his bottle, fed him and then pumped. Have you ever tried to pump while feeding a baby a bottle? It’s nearly impossible. I tried it to save time and it was just more frustrating than anything. It’s harder than juggling! Haha. I just fed him first and put the pump aside. After he finished the bottle I put him in his little bouncer to sleep, and finished pumping.

After pumping, I remembered that I needed to eat. On most days, I have to remind myself to eat because I feel like my mind is in a million places. I ate ramen noodles. I eat a lot of ramen because we bought a big pack a while ago, and because I’m not working, I don’t want to spend much on me during the days. Anyways, I ate really quick so I could start house chores.

My boyfriend never says anything about the house or that I need to clean, but I like to keep the house looking nice. Since he works hard, I want him to come home to a nice and clean home. I try to keep the laundry caught up, dishes washed and all of the rooms straightened up and swept.

Halfway into folding clothes, little man decided he needed some love. It wasn’t feeding time, he didn’t want a pacifier, and he was just crying. I ended up just putting him on my chest and cuddling him. He automatically stopped crying and calmed down. I just turned on Netflix and decided to just chill because I felt like he needed me so I just held him.

I kinda felt bad because I literally only did one thing on my list before it was time to feed JJ and pump again. Then my boyfriend got home a little later. Then I was about to make supper and I ended up not having everything I needed for what I wanted to cook so I ended up running to Bojangles.

My boyfriend got the baby to sleep while I was gone. When we sat down to eat, he woke back up. I was almost done eating when he started crying again. So here I am now on the couch with my little guy. He’s cuddled up on my chest fast asleep. I’ve got a million things to do, but right now this is the most important thing I could be doing. Most days, he is a lot happier than he was today, but I think he’s just having an off day.

Being a stay at home mom seems hectic, and it really is, but it’s so worth it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Now it’s time to start our night routine so we can do it all over again.

Hey I just had ramen too! It’s so hard for me to just eat that and I end up eating and shopping more than we should but Idk I’m a fatty. You are so strong though girl
