Hello friends, I have not posted on this blog in two years, but so much has changed! My boys are now 2 and 5, and in August of 2024, we started our homeschool journey as a family!
At first, I started to homeschool just because I was not ready to leave my little boy with people I do not know 5 days a week for 8 hours a day! I just couldn’t do it, but the longer I have been doing homeschool, the more reasons I have for why it is definitely the best choice for my family!

My 6 Reasons Why We Homeschool
- Our schedule can be more flexible.. My husband works from 3:00pm until 11:00pm, so if we would have chosen to put our sons in school, they would only see each other on the weekends. With homeschool, they can spend time together in the morning, and we do our schoolwork between 2:30pm and 5:00pm (give or take).
- We get to choose our curriculum! For Kindergarten, this was very simple. I use a variety of Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Walmart books for learning simple Math, Reading Skills, Shapes and more! Along with that, we go to the library and pick out books about anything we would like to learn about! Even YouTube has been a great source for learning about a variety of things.
- We can take field trips as often as you like! We have already gone to the zoo and a few museums, and when the weather is warm, going to the park and the library are fun and free options too!
- We can choose when and if you want to socialize. This has been wonderful during flu season. I don’t have to drop my child off at school wondering what sickness he will get the next day. On the other hand, there are many great ways to socialize like Co-ops (if you choose to go that route), play dates, or sports! It’s up to you, and that’s the best part!
- It’s Easier With Our Food Allergy Restrictions. One of my children have severe lactose intolerance and my other child has acid reflux. So with their dietary needs, it’s hard to explain to people the many things that they can’t have. It’s easier to just feed them myself.
- We can teach them about God and the Bible. I love having the freedom to discuss the Bible openly with my boys. It gives them space to think and figure out how they feel about everything and ask questions.

I hope that you found this blog helpful, and good luck on whatever you decide to do for your family. 😊
