My Top 5 Favorite Places

Lately I have been a little stressed. Let’s be real.. I’ve been really stressed. My child is having a sleep regression, my job is complicated to say the least, and I can’t keep up with housework. I’m not here to complain though. I’m thankful for my son, my job, and my home, but every mom gets overwhelmed at times. Right now I just want to focus on relaxing because my son is napping and I’m off of work today. Housework can wait because it is time for some “me time.”

Earlier today, I remembered a time in high school when I had terrible anxiety. I talked to my grandma about it, and she told me something that with always stick with me. She told me that when times get hard, to go somewhere quiet, close my eyes, and imagine myself at my favorite place until I feel better. She said that she always imagines Summers with her grandma as a child. She imagines herself laying on her grandmother’s porch swing and feeling the breeze. Today I want to take her advice and think about my favorite places.

The Beach

As I’m writing this blog, I have a video of aquatic life with relaxing background music playing on my TV. I absolutely love the beach. The sound of the ocean waves, the memories made there with loved ones, the breeze blowing through my hair, the sand in between my toes, everything. The thought of this makes me feel so happy inside.

The Mountains

I love the beauty of God’s creation. Every time I go to the mountains, I am awestruck by the beauty of everything around me. My favorite season to go to the mountains in during the Fall. The air is so crisp and fresh, and the colors are amazing. Just thinking about this is making me want to go right now.

Virginia Creeper Trail

Botanical Gardens

I LOVE botanical gardens. I get so inspired when I go to these gardens. There is one a city over from where I live, and it is so beautiful. There are benches to read or sit while enjoying nature, and there is such beautiful scenery. I NEED to go back soon.

My Parents’ House

I lived in the same home from birth all the way until I was 20 years old. Even though I do not live with my parents anymore, I know that I am welcome anytime. I even still have a key! Haha. I love my parents and I love to visit with them. Being there is so comforting and familiar. Fun fact: my room is now the grandchildren’s room!

Anywhere With My Boys

This one is my favorite because if I am stressed, thinking about my little family always helps. My boys are so important and special to me, and they always keep me going. They are my home so wherever I’m with them, I am happy, and I am home. ❤️

Thank you guys for reading. Also, do you have a certain place that you go in your mind when you are stressed? Drop me a comment, and tell me your “happy place.” Stay tuned for more content soon. ❤️

Sorry that you are stressed! For me, the beach is at the top of my list because I grew up on a tropical island…..I miss it A LOT!

I needed this last week! Took a week off of blogging because my mental health was not as good as I had hoped. With so many things rotating around me it had felt like I couldn’t keep up. Thank you for this. Taking time for yourself is so so important.
