Before I had my son, my husband had my undivided attention all of the time. After our son was born, things obviously changed. I hate to admit it, but I would pour all of my time and energy into being a mommy, and I gave my husband just the leftovers of me. The house stayed a mess, I was a mess, and we ate ramen like 3 times a week. It was just a big hot mess.
After about a month of that, I came to a realization. My man wasn’t being taken care of as well as he should be. Yes, I know he is a grown man, but he goes to work all day so I can stay home with our son. He deserved way more than I was giving. So here are some things that I do for him to show him that I appreciate him.
I pack his lunch in the morning. When we first moved in together, I packed his lunch every morning right before he left. When the baby was born, he wouldn’t wake me up to pack his lunch anymore. I still had things for him to eat, but there’s something special about that hug and kiss in the morning to start our day. So no matter what my night is like, I wake up with him at 5:40 am every morning.

I don’t wake him up at night. Well there’s some exceptions like really rough nights or sometimes on the weekends, but most of the time I want my man to have a good nights’ rest so he can feel good at work the next day.
I make our house calm. Some days are harder than others, but I try to keep our house as clean as I can. I also try to make sure everything is calm when he gets home so he can rest. Babies are unpredictable, but I try to get our baby down for a nap around 3:30 or 4:00pm so he can be chill when my boyfriend gets home.
I try to always have a dinner plan. Most days I cook during the week, but even a frozen pizza or corn dog night is okay too! Just as long as I have something on the table close to the time he’s home, I feel good about it. I also try to stay stocked up on our fave snacks too.
I make sure he’s has bonding time with our son. My boyfriend absolutely LOVES our son, and he is a wonderful daddy. I like to watch them play together. I also ask him to help me pick out clothes for our son and stuff like that. I just try to keep us all bonding.

I make sure we have alone time. Every adult couple needs their alone time. What you do with yours is up to you, but it’s a very important thing to have some time for just the two of you every once in a while.
Lastly, I try not to forget to take care of myself. When you’re in a long term relationship, you have a very unconditional love, but men also still love a woman that has it together. A lot of my days consist of sweat pants, T-shirts and messy hair, but I try to remember to brush my hair and brush my teeth and just keep my hygiene good. I was totally slipping when my son was first born. I literally would even forget to eat sometimes, but taking care of yourself is super important.

I just wanted to share these things with everyone. There are a lot more things I could say, but those are some of the most important. I’m very thankful to have a very hardworking man as my other half. ❤️
