I’ve always loved to read. My mom tells me that when I was a baby, I loved for her to read to me. I remember when I was little, she read me a bedtime story every night. My mom was a stay at home mom so she really invested all of her time into taking care of me and my older sister. Because she was a stay at home mom, she didn’t send me to daycare or preschool. She kind of had her own way of helping us learn. She would always take me to the library to check out books, and we read several books a day together. By the time I was 4, I was reading to her instead of her reading to me. It was my absolute favorite thing to do!
When I was getting things ready for my son’s baby shower, everyone was asking me what I needed. I had a few people getting the big things like the crib, car seat, swing, etc. Since I had had most of the important things taken care of, I told people that they could get books for him! My boyfriend’s mom and my mom threw 2 separate baby showers, and between both of them, he got so many books! Some were even bilingual, which is great for our family!
This past week, little man has been so alert. He’s been looking around, trying to lift his head, and even watching the tv! Today I decided to start making a daily effort to start reading to him. I know he does not understand yet, but I still want to. So I got one of his books Out of his nursery. A little bit before I got out the book, I had put on Incredibles 2, but wasn’t really watching it. About two pages into reading to him, I looked down and realized his eyes were GLUED to the tv! He wasn’t paying mommy any mind. Definitely more into the movie than what mommy was trying to do. Haha. I still read the whole book anyways, but next time I will probably turn the tv off. He’s so little that it was just so funny and cute.

I’m going to continue doing this with him every day. They are never too young to learn and grow. Plus it gives me something fun to do with him. I hope to share the same memories with him that my mom and I had. If he gets bigger and is not into reading, no big deal, but I at least want to try to teach him. ❤️
