Life is crazy! Between work, children, bills, and housework, sometimes putting time for your significant other can really fall through the cracks. To have a happy relationship, you need time to reconnect as a couple to remember why you fell in love in the first place. I LOVE my day to day life with my husband, but I also feel like dates are super special and important! Let me share with you 10 date ideas to help you and your significant other reconnect!
Listen to “Episode 2: Date Ideas to Help Couples Reconnect” on Spreaker.

Dinner and a movie
I personally love this one now that our local theater is now back open! My husband and I went out for Mexican food and watched Fast 9 a couple of weeks ago! We had a blast! I love being a mom, but there is something about going to the movies with my hubby that brings back those fun “butterfly feelings.”

Go for a romantic evening walk
Even though where we live, it has been hot and rainy, this is one of my favorite dates when the weather is nice. I love going for a stroll at a park or downtown with my significant other! This is a great way to connect and talk. Holding hands is also a plus as well!

Have a night IN
I have to be honest, this one is a favorite. Every now and then when my mom keeps my toddler overnight, I love to just have a night in with my husband (especially now that I’m pregnant and exhausted most of the time). Ordering food for delivery and finding a great movie on Netflix is the way to go! I enjoy nights like those just as much as a night on the town!

Go out for just dessert
This one actually can go with the last one sometimes! Sometimes we want to have a night in, but around 9:00pm we get tempted to go to our local cafe for a brownie sundae to share! Late night dessert runs are so much fun. It is definitely a guilty pleasure!

Try something exciting and new
Take a class together about something neither of you know about or go play laser tag! Just do something waaaaay out of the ordinary. Doing something new together will also give you new things to talk about as well! So think outside of the box!

Go play mini golf
I love mini golf. It is a fun yet playful way to get your competitive side going! My husband and I always keep score and we have a hilarious banter going the whole time! One time we even got small bets involved about silly little things like the loser having to do dishes for a week. It just gets our silly side going!

Take an adventurous day trip (if you have the time)
For my birthday in this past May, my husband and I took a day trip to Virginia to ride bikes and enjoy the scenery of the mountains. If the mountains are not your thing, take a day trip to the beach. It may be a lot to pack into one day, but you will have some great memories!

Plan a whole evening yourself and surprise your spouse
I have yet to do this, but one day, I want to get a babysitter one evening and surprise my husband with a fully planned date night to his favorite places. I want to be the one driving so he has no idea what is even coming next! I think he would love it.

Play would you rather
Okay, this may not really be a date idea, but whether you are waiting for food at a restaurant or chilling together at home, this is a great way to spark new conversations! Yes, would you rather was BIG when I was in middle school, but give it a shot, and do not be afraid to ask off the wall things because you can spark so many kinds of conversations. It’s a good way to get into your partners mind a little and understand them more! It also usually causes my husband and I to laugh historically too if we just get off the wall silly.

Open a bottle of wine (or sparkling cider) and talk about your hopes and dreams
This sounds so romantic. I have been either pregnant or nursing since September 2018 so it’s going to have to be sparkling cider for me, but I love when my husband and I talk about our lives together. I remember this past New Year’s Eve, I got our son to sleep early and we talked about our hopes and dreams for the year to come over sparkling cider in wine glasses. It was super special.

I hope you enjoyed this list! Do not forget to make time for you partner, and please comment down below to tell me your favorite date ideas! Thank you so much for reading, and stay tuned for more content coming soon!
