Hey there! Today I want to shed some light on being a stay at home mom. Being a stay at home sounds so easy right? Getting to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Just kidding! As a former stay at home mom, I can testify that being at home all day everyday with your child is not as easy as it seems. You may think being home all the time means that you get to lay on the couch and eat snacks all day, but this is far from reality. There is always laundry to do, dishes to wash, and children that are constantly in need of attention. Not to mention any appointments, grocery runs, etc.
I stayed home with my son until he was 10 months old, and I went back to work this past February (2020). By the end of March, I was back in the stay at home mom club due to my job closing because of the Pandemic. With proper safety restrictions in place, my job opened back up August 1st. In saying all of that, being out of work during those 4 months was a blessing in disguise. I got to see my baby boy learn to walk, I got to enjoy him on his first birthday, and my sister had a baby in July. So even though this Pandemic was a big downer (still is), it had an upside. Anyways, out of personal experience, I believe that there are definitely some things that all stay all home moms should really remember in order to get through everyday life. Let’s get right into it!

You are so much more than that hamper full of laundry! It is so easy to lose yourself in your never ending to-do list! Sometimes you have to step back from everything and realize that you are so valuable!

You are your family’s safe place. Do you ever feel like you cannot have a minute alone? My son (15 months old) follows me into the bathroom, and he also likes to follow me all around the house hugging my legs whenever I stop walking. I have to admit, it is sweet though. Also, my husband likes to come home to hugs and attention. I can get my alone time later in life! Haha. So even though you may feel like you want a moment to yourself sometimes, just remember how much you mean to your family!

Your babies won’t be little forever! These are precious moments that you will never get back. Get that extra slobbery toddler kiss, cuddle a little longer, or go outside and really play with your kids! Just enjoy them to the fullest. I know in the moments of tantrums and teething, it is hard to enjoy them being small, but there is always more good moments than bad ones!

Everyday is a new day! This is so important to remember! Sometimes when I have a hard day, it can even linger into the next day causing a never ending chain reaction. We just have to realize that some days are going to be better than others. I also have to remind myself that I cannot always get to everything on my to-do list. Do not be to hard on yourself because tomorrow is a new day!

Being a stay at home mom is the most important job you could ever have! Being a stay a home mom may be hard, but it is so rewarding! You may not earn a paycheck, but you will be rich in so many other ways! Enjoy it mama!
