Welcome to another episode of Morning Coffee and Ramblings! This morning was especially great. My son and I slept in until 10:00am, and then we got up and ate some yogurt and strawberries together! He is a year and 3 months old so he is really trying to be independent, and he likes to feed himself. Sometimes he struggles, but it is good practice, and it is so cute to watch! Then we went outside before it got too hot to play (the high is 90 degrees today. Yikes!). He ran around and played. I followed him around like a hot mess for a while! I was rocking a mom bun, and I was wearing a T-shirt with my husband’s shorts and his sandals. Haha! Oh and don’t forget the coffee in my hand! We played until it got too hot to stay outside, and then we headed back inside for something cold to drink!
Today I am really trying to soak up every second of being home with my sweet boy. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in what you need to get done around the house that you forget to slow down and enjoy your child/children. Hey, I’m guilty of this too! Sometimes we are there with our little ones, but we are not really present with them, but today that will not be the case for me. After four months of quarantining and self-distancing, I will go back to work tomorrow..
Okay, before I get all weepy, I will admit.. I am only going back for one day a week, and only 6 hours at a time due to not having a babysitter. My mom is going to watch him that one day until I can find more help. I’m not opposed to daycare, but for now, that is not the right choice for my family for personal reasons. Anyways, even though I’m not working much at all, and I know he will be in good hands, there’s still something about going back to work that unsettles me. Maybe it is because of the Coronavirus. Maybe it’s the fact that even though I was told that I can work the one day, I know they will push me for more. I’m not sure. I just don’t feel ready.
All I know for sure, is right here in this moment, I will enjoy being home with my little one. As I watch him sleeping soundly in his crib, all I can think about is how much I love him, and how I can’t believe I am his mommy. I love watching him grow and learn. I love hearing him talk too! He says the words ball, mama, dada, thahhh (thank you haha), and pawpaw! It’s just so crazy how fast time flies, and I want to try to enjoy every moment that I can.
I’m sure that once I get back into a work routine, it will be just fine though! It might even be good for me to have one (or more) days a week to get out of the house and work. I will appreciate my days here at home so much more!
Thank you for reading my second edition of Morning Coffee and Ramblings. Please let me know in the comments what you would like to read on this blog in the future. Stay safe out there, and I’ll see you next week! ❤️

I can’t believe he slept until 10!! How lucky! Love hearing your thoughts on mom life.
I sometimes feel guilty also for being busy around the house, but think of the alternative. He is blessed to be able to spend that time with you regardless of how you feel about it…:-)
Yes, enjoy every single minute. I have a two year old and a six year old and always wonder where the time went. How did they grow so fast! Your little one is adorable!
Katie, great post! Enjoy this time at home, and just really take all these special moments in. I hope you have a great rest of your week. 🙂
There are times where I feel guilty when I’m busy and my kids just want play. I’m glad you cherish that time together as a family. This was a thoughtful read. Thank you! –Chelsea Fullenkamp
I have a 4 almost 5 year old & a 6 Month Old ball of smiles. I feel awesome on days that I hammer out everything that needs to be done, but I love the next day when I get to just cuddle up with my babies, play, go to the water for a picnic & basically have a day of not adulting & just focusing on having fun with my boys. 🙂 <3
Awh yes! There is definitely a time for both work and play! ❤️❤️
