This week is a little different for our family, but in a good way! Javier has all of this week off for vacation! My boyfriend had been counting down the days for about two weeks before his vacation even started. When he was told that he was going to get this week off, he started trying to plan up every day with things to do. As a stay at home mom with a 2 month old and a daily routine, I felt a little bit anxious about it, but Javier works so hard for us so I want his week off to feel fun and special for him.
Javier’s mom is off this week too, and she has a zoo pass and invited us three to go with her and Javier’s 5 siblings. Honestly, a full zoo day sounded really stressful at first. All I could think about was timing JJ’s feedings, whether he’d like the stroller or not (it was the first time using one), if he’d start crying in the middle of the zoo, if he’d be too hot, etc. My mind always goes in overdrive when it comes to JJ.
This morning, we went to Javier’s mom’s house and had breakfast. She cooked bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes so we could be full and not buy food in the zoo. We also packed frozen Gatorades and waters because it was so hot outside. Before we went, JJ was having so much fun with his uncle Aaron! Javier helped him give JJ a piggy back ride and it was hilarious!

Anyways, all of my worrying about the zoo trip was in vain! We walked the whole North Carolina zoo, and he did great! I carried him when we first got there, and then he slept in his stroller just about the whole entire time! He only woke up one time to eat. I found some picnic tables off the path and was able to breastfeed him and then change him in a bathroom. Anyways, other than that, we had no issues. I was happy that we were able to enjoy ourselves, and see all of the animals.

Today really showed me that I shouldn’t worry so much. My mom has always told me, “99% of the things we worry about never happen.” She’s absolutely right. Sometimes you just have to remind yourself to take a chill pill and enjoy yourself. As a mom, we try to make everything precise and perfect, but let’s be real.. Sometimes things go better when we just go with the flow.
